When you tweak the Registry, you edit or create database entries to customize how your OS works. Before making any changes to the Windows Registry, you should be sure to back up your important data, as missteps in the Registry could impair your PC or even render it inoperable.

You really really shouldn't be opening Registry hives with anything other than the registry editor, regedit. Anything else is liable to break your entire system beyond any hope of repair. I don't understand why this was migrated from StackOverflow, since it seems not only the locations but the formats are desired, and the format is definitely a programming question. Second part of the question is related to programming.
